- 2 cups water or vegetable/chicken broth
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Optional: Fresh herbs (parsley or thyme)
Instructions
- Melt the Butter: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat, add butter and allow it to melt.
- Caramelize the Onions: Add sliced onions to the skillet and stir gently for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare the Rice: In a separate pot, bring water or broth to a boil, add rice with a pinch of salt, cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes until liquid is absorbed.
- Combine the Flavors: Fluff the rice with a fork and fold in the caramelized onions, seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Optional Garnish: Sprinkle with fresh herbs before serving.
Notes
Make the caramelized onions in advance; they can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three days.
