Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Lightly steam the cauliflower, broccoli, and carrots until just tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat, then stir in flour to form a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk and cook until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in the shredded cheese and season with salt and pepper.
  6. In a baking dish, combine the steamed vegetables with the cheese sauce.
  7. If desired, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top.
