Crispy Chicken Wonton Tacos

Description

Delightful crispy tacos filled with tender chicken glazed in teriyaki sauce, topped with fresh veggies and spicy mayo.


Ingredients

Scale
  • Wonton wrappers (square or round)
  • Vegetable or canola cooking oil
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, diced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the teriyaki glaze:
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
  • Optional toppings: shredded cabbage, diced green onions, sesame seeds, sriracha or spicy mayo

Instructions

  1. Heat 1-2 inches of cooking oil in a large skillet.
  2. Shape wonton wrappers into taco shapes and fry until golden brown.
  3. Drain on paper towels.
  4. In a separate skillet, heat sesame oil and cook diced chicken with soy sauce, garlic, ginger, salt, and pepper until cooked through.
  5. In a small saucepan, combine teriyaki glaze ingredients and simmer until thickened.
  6. Toss the cooked chicken in the glaze.
  7. Assemble tacos by filling wonton shells with glazed chicken and toppings.

Notes

Keep an eye on the oil temperature; it should be hot enough to fry but not too hot to burn the wontons.
