Description
A comforting dish of soft dumplings cradling seasoned cabbage, perfect for family dinners and holidays.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 small head of green cabbage, chopped
- 4 cups of water
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 2 tablespoons of butter
- 1 onion, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a large pot. Add the chopped cabbage and allow it to cook for about 5 minutes until tender. Drain and set aside.
- Combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 large eggs, 1/2 cup of milk, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a large mixing bowl. Mix vigorously until a smooth dough forms.
- Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a separate pan over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Drop spoonfuls of dumpling dough into the boiling water. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until they float to the surface.
- Combine the floating dumplings with the sautéed cabbage and onions. Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve warm.
Notes
You can prepare the dough a few hours in advance and store it in the fridge. For a crispy texture, consider roasting or air frying the dumplings after boiling.
