Ingredients

  • 1000 grams Chuck or Braising Steak
  • 1 cup Onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, chopped
  • 2 cm Fresh Ginger, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground Turmeric
  • 2 teaspoons Ground Coriander
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground Cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1 cup Beef Broth
  • 0.5 cup Water
  • 3 cm Cinnamon Stick
  • 1 piece Dried Bay Leaf
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped Cilantro
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Sear Your Beef: In a skillet, heat the oil or ghee over medium-high heat. Add the beef cubes, browning them on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the chopped onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the onions soften, around 3-4 minutes.
  3. Blend the Spices: Stir in the turmeric, ground coriander, garam masala, ground cumin, and red chili powder. Cook for an additional minute.
  4. Combine in the Slow Cooker: Transfer the beef and spice mixture into your slow cooker. Pour in the beef broth, water, add the cinnamon stick, bay leaf, and salt. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Slow Cook: Cover the slow cooker and set it to low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours.
  6. Finishing Touches: Once cooked, stir in the chopped cilantro and adjust seasoning.
  7. Serve Hot: Ladle the curry into bowls and garnish with extra cilantro.
