Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder

  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1 cup Boiling Water
  • 2 cups Fresh Strawberries
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 8 ounces Dark Chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons Coconut Oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your baking pans.
  2. Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Combine wet ingredients: buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract in another bowl.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry, mixing gently until combined.
  5. Add boiling water carefully, creating a thin batter.
  6. Divide the batter between prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  7. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then flip onto cooling racks.
  8. Prepare the frosting by melting dark chocolate and coconut oil.
  9. Create layers with fresh strawberries and frosting between the cake layers.
  10. Finish by pouring melted chocolate over the cake for a chocolate shell.

Notes

Refrigerate leftover cake for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months.
