Scale
- 4 small onions
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour

- For the ranch dip: 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 teaspoon dried dill
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions
- Prepare the onions by slicing off a small portion of the top and carefully peeling them. Cut each onion into four sections without cutting through the root.
- Soak the cut onions in buttermilk for at least one hour.
- Mix the coating by combining flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Heat the oil in your deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Dredge the onions in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.
- Fry the onions in batches for 3-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Prepare the ranch dip by mixing mayonnaise, sour cream, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl.
- Serve the crispy onions hot with ranch dip.
Notes
For best results, avoid overcrowding the pot while frying to maintain oil temperature. You can slice and soak the onions ahead of time.
