Description

A warm and hearty casserole that transforms classic burger flavors with ground beef, mushrooms, and Swiss cheese in a rich, savory sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup creamy sauce (like cream of mushroom soup)
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Hamburger buns or bread (optional for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the ground beef and chopped onions in a skillet over medium heat; drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in the sliced mushrooms and sauté for an additional 3-5 minutes.
  4. Whisk together the creamy sauce and milk in a mixing bowl until combined.
  5. Pour the creamy mixture over the beef and mushrooms; season with salt and pepper.
  6. Transfer everything to a greased baking dish and top with shredded Swiss cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  8. Serve hot, either in bowls or on toasted hamburger buns.

Notes

Make-ahead: Assemble the casserole and refrigerate, adding extra baking time when ready to serve. Can also be frozen before baking.
