- 1 lb Pork Sausages
- 2 lbs Potatoes
- 1 cup Milk
- 4 tbsp Butter
- 1 medium Onion
- 2 cups Beef Broth
- 2 tbsp Flour
- Salt & Pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp Fresh Parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Potatoes: Peel and cube potatoes. Boil in salted water for 15-20 minutes until fork-tender. Drain and set aside.
- Cook the Sausages: In a frying pan, cook sausages over medium heat until golden brown on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté the Onions: In the same pan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter, add sliced onions, and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Make the Gravy: Add flour to onions, stir for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in beef broth, simmer and thicken for about 3-5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Mash the Potatoes: Add remaining butter and milk to potatoes, mash until creamy, and season with salt and pepper as desired.
- Serve It Up: On a plate, mound mashed potatoes, place sausages on top, and spoon gravy over everything. Garnish with parsley.
Notes
You can prep mashed potatoes ahead of time and reheat with a splash of milk before serving. Customize the dish by adding sautéed mushrooms or a splash of ale to the gravy.
