Description
A delicious fried rice dish combining tender beef, caramelized onions, and mixed vegetables, packed with flavor and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old)
- 1 lb beef (thinly sliced, flank steak or sirloin)
- 1 onion (sliced, yellow or sweet)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or sesame oil)
- 2 garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 cup mixed vegetables (optional, bell peppers, peas, and carrots)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Green onions (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Heat the oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Sauté the onions until they soften and turn golden brown (about 3-4 minutes).
- Introduce garlic and beef, searing for 4-5 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked through.
- Add the cooked rice, breaking up any clumps, and stir in the soy sauce and mixed vegetables if using.
- Heat through for another 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
- Serve hot and enjoy the aroma.
Notes
Using day-old rice prevents mushiness. Customize the dish by swapping the beef for chicken or tofu.
