Description

A delicious fried rice dish combining tender beef, caramelized onions, and mixed vegetables, packed with flavor and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old)
  • 1 lb beef (thinly sliced, flank steak or sirloin)
  • 1 onion (sliced, yellow or sweet)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (or sesame oil)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (optional, bell peppers, peas, and carrots)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Green onions (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  2. Sauté the onions until they soften and turn golden brown (about 3-4 minutes).
  3. Introduce garlic and beef, searing for 4-5 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked through.
  4. Add the cooked rice, breaking up any clumps, and stir in the soy sauce and mixed vegetables if using.
  5. Heat through for another 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy the aroma.

Notes

Using day-old rice prevents mushiness. Customize the dish by swapping the beef for chicken or tofu.
