- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (for searing)
- 1 large Onion (sliced)
- 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1 cup Beef Broth
- 1/2 cup Balsamic Vinegar or Red Wine
- 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
- 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 Bay Leaves
- Fresh Thyme Sprigs
Instructions
- Prep the brisket: Trim excess fat and season generously with salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder.
- Sear the meat: Heat olive oil in a pan and sear brisket for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned.
- Sauté the aromatics: In the same pan, add sliced onions and minced garlic, cooking until translucent.
- Prepare the slow cooker: Combine onion and garlic mixture with beef broth, vinegar or wine, brown sugar, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, bay leaves, and thyme.
- Add the brisket: Place the seared brisket into the slow cooker, spooning some sauce over the top.
- Slow cook: Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or high for 5-6 hours until fork-tender.
- Rest and slice: Let the brisket rest for 15 minutes before slicing.
- Serve: Enjoy with the sauce drizzled over each slice.
