Delightful baked apples with a sweet oat filling, topped with ice cream for a comforting dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup oats (old-fashioned or quick)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • Vanilla ice cream (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Core and slice the apples to create blooms.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, oats, cinnamon, and nuts.
  4. Stuff the oat mixture into the sliced apples.
  5. Place the stuffed apples upright in a baking dish.
  6. Dot the tops with butter and add water to prevent drying.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until tender and golden brown.
  8. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For a twist, try different apples or customize the filling with dried fruits. Make ahead by preparing the apples and refrigerating them before baking.
