Description

A delicious and hearty casserole made with layers of cheese, potatoes, and smoked sausage, perfect for a comforting meal.


Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
  3. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
  4. Add half of the smoked sausage on top of the potatoes.
  5. Sprinkle half of the cheese over the sausage.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, sausage, and cheese.
  7. Pour the milk over the top and season with paprika, salt, and pepper.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños.
  • Can substitute smoked sausage with turkey sausage for a lighter option.
  • Let the casserole sit for 10 minutes before serving for easier slicing.
