Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1 cucumber, diced

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix olive oil, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add chicken thighs to the marinade and coat well. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat the grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the marinated chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side or until fully cooked.
  5. Remove the chicken from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
  6. Warm the pita breads on the grill for a minute.
  7. Assemble the shawarma by placing sliced chicken on the pita, topped with lettuce, tomato, and cucumber.
  8. Drizzle with creamy garlic sauce before serving.
