- 2 lbs chicken thighs
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon ground coriander
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 pita breads
- 1 cup lettuce, shredded
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1 cucumber, diced
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix olive oil, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Add chicken thighs to the marinade and coat well. Let it marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Preheat the grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the marinated chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side or until fully cooked.
- Remove the chicken from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- Warm the pita breads on the grill for a minute.
- Assemble the shawarma by placing sliced chicken on the pita, topped with lettuce, tomato, and cucumber.
- Drizzle with creamy garlic sauce before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, let the chicken marinate overnight.
- Serve with additional garlic sauce on the side.
- Can be served with rice or salad for a complete meal.
