- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- Add the cold cubed butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Fold in the diced apples.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it a few times. Pat it into a circle about 1 inch thick.
- Cut the dough into wedges and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the scones are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing the powdered sugar and maple syrup until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm scones before serving.
