Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
- 1/2 cup sugar + 2 tsp cinnamon for coating
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
- 2–3 tbsp milk (for glaze)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon until well combined.
- In another bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Slowly combine the wet and dry ingredients, stirring gently until just mixed.
- Heat the oil in a heavy-bottomed pan or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Using a small scoop, carefully drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, frying for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and let drain on paper towels.
- While warm, toss the donut holes in the prepared cinnamon sugar mixture.
- For a glaze, whisk the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth, then drizzle over the donut holes.
Notes
You can prepare the batter the night before. Fry fresh donut holes in the morning for a delightful breakfast.
