Description
A delightful fusion of smoky, spicy, and herbal notes, Crispy Blackened Tilapia pairs perfectly with a creamy garlic-herb sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 tilapia fillets
- 2 tbsp melted butter or olive oil
- Blackening Seasoning:
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt & black pepper to taste
- The Garlic-Herb Sauce:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream or chicken broth
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 2 tbsp fresh chives or parsley (chopped)
- Fresh mixed greens salad topped with crumbled feta cheese
Instructions
- Begin by mixing all ingredients for the blackening seasoning in a small bowl. Pat the tilapia fillets dry, then brush them lightly with melted butter or olive oil. Coat both sides with seasoning mix.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place seasoned fish in the hot skillet and cook for about 3–4 minutes per side until a crispy crust forms.
- Lower the heat and add 2 tbsp of butter and minced garlic to the same pan, sautéing for 1 minute. Pour in heavy cream (or broth) and a splash of lemon juice, simmer for 2 minutes, then stir in fresh herbs.
- Arrange the crispy tilapia on plates, drizzle with warm garlic-herb sauce, and serve with mixed greens salad.
Notes
Make the blackening seasoning in advance and store in an airtight container. Adjust cayenne pepper to spice tolerance and consider using an air fryer for cooking.
