Description

A simple and delicious cheese danish recipe perfect for breakfast or brunch.


Ingredients

  • 1 package of puff pastry (thawed)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1 egg yolk (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into squares.
  3. In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and beaten egg until smooth.
  4. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square.
  5. Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling to create a danish shape.
  6. Brush the tops with the egg yolk for a golden finish.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Let cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • For a fruity twist, add some fruit preserves on top of the cream cheese filling.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened for easy mixing.
