Description

A simple and delicious recipe for homemade focaccia bread that anyone can make.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 3/4 cups warm water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary (or 1 teaspoon dried)
  • Coarse sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  6. Transfer the dough to a greased baking sheet and stretch it out to fit the pan.
  7. Use your fingers to create dimples in the dough, then drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with rosemary and coarse sea salt.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Let it cool slightly before slicing and serving.
