Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and milk, mixing well.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before rolling it up with the parchment paper.
  8. While the cake cools, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
  9. Unroll the cooled cake, spread a layer of whipped cream, and add cherry pie filling on top.
  10. Carefully roll the cake back up and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
  11. Garnish with chocolate shavings before slicing and serving.
