- 2 slices of bread
- 4 oz ham
- 1 apple, thinly sliced
- 2 oz Gruyère cheese, grated
- 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
Instructions
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened butter and Dijon mustard together.
- Spread the Dijon butter on one side of each slice of bread.
- Layer the ham, apple slices, and Gruyère cheese on the unbuttered side of one slice of bread.
- Top with the other slice of bread, buttered side up.
- Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Once the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy, remove from the skillet and slice in half.
Notes
- For a sweeter flavor, use a sweeter apple variety like Fuji or Honeycrisp.
- Feel free to add additional toppings like arugula or caramelized onions.
- Serve with a side of pickles or a light salad for a complete meal.
