- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 packet French onion soup mix
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 cup shredded cheese (Swiss or provolone)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
- Stir in ground beef and cook until browned.
- Add beef broth and French onion soup mix, stirring to combine.
- Simmer for 5-10 minutes until the mixture thickens.
- Toast hamburger buns lightly.
- Spoon the beef mixture onto the buns and top with shredded cheese.
- Place under the broiler for 2-3 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add Worcestershire sauce to the beef mixture.
- Serve with a side of chips or a salad.
