- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the cold butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the buttermilk until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently.
- Roll out to about 1-inch thickness and cut into biscuits.
- Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- While the biscuits are baking, prepare the glaze by mixing maple syrup, ground cinnamon, and powdered sugar in a bowl.
- Once the biscuits are done, drizzle the glaze over the warm biscuits.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use buttermilk instead of regular milk.
- Store leftover biscuits in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
- These biscuits can be frozen before baking; just add a few extra minutes to the baking time if baking from frozen.
