Description

Savory Caprese Bread is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that combines the classic flavors of a Caprese salad with the comforting texture of freshly baked bread.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella, diced
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Once risen, punch down the dough and fold in the cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil.
  8. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  9. Let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool before slicing.

Notes

  • For a more intense flavor, add garlic or balsamic vinegar to the dough.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
