- 4–5 lb beef chuck roast, trimmed of excess fat
- 1 (12 oz) can root beer (not diet)
- 1 1/2 cups thick, smoky barbecue sauce, plus extra for serving
Instructions
- Place the beef chuck roast in the slow cooker.
- Pour the root beer over the roast.
- Add the barbecue sauce, reserving some for serving later.
- Cover and cook on low for 480 minutes or until the beef is tender.
- Shred the beef with two forks once it’s done cooking.
- Serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side.
Notes
Make-ahead: Combine the root beer and barbecue sauce with the beef in advance. Storage: Leftovers can be stored for up to 3 days in the refrigerator, or frozen for up to 3 months.
