Description
A delicious and comforting dish combining sweet potatoes and apples, baked to perfection with a crispy topping.
Ingredients

- 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 large apples, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated cheese (such as Gruyère or cheddar)
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon butter, for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Layer half of the sweet potatoes in the bottom of the dish.
- Layer half of the apples on top of the sweet potatoes.
- Sprinkle with salt, pepper, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Pour half of the heavy cream over the layers.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining sweet potatoes and apples.
- Pour the remaining cream over the top and sprinkle with grated cheese.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the sweet potatoes are tender.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a vegan version, substitute heavy cream with coconut cream and cheese with a dairy-free alternative.
- Feel free to add nuts or breadcrumbs on top for extra crunch.
- This dish can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving.
